Expo 2010 Shanghai China is the forty-first session of the Expo.

It was held in Shanghai City from 1st, May to 31st, October, 2010. It was also the first Expo that was held by China. The theme of this Expo was “Better City, Better Life”, with the total investment of 45 billion Yuan, which created the record of the largest scale in Expo’s history. Meanwhile, more than 70 million visitors also created a new record in Expo.

Process of Bid
The Chinese government has formally announced to bid the host of 2010 Expo in December,1999 when the 126th plenary meeting of Bureau of International Exhibition was held.
The Chinese government established the Committee for hosting Expo 2010 Shanghai China on 17th, March, 2000. The chairman Wu Yi who was State Councilor at that time.
The Chinese government handed in the bid application for Expo 2010 Shanghai China to the BIE through diplomatic channels in May, 2001.
The Chinese government handed in the bid report for Expo 2010 Shanghai China to the BIE on 30th, January, 2002.
From 29th, November to 5th, December, 2002, Li Lanqing who was the Political Bureau of The CPC Committee and Vice Premier at that time, led the Chinese delegation to attend the 132nd plenary meeting of BIE and made the presentation.
On 3rd, December, 2002, China got the host of Expo 2010 Shanghai China by the ballot of BIE meeting.
